Homework is such a common term for everyone which keeps an important place in every student’s and teacher’s life especially. In homework, a teacher assigns the student to do some extra school work which could be a revision of class work.
Well. Today will be discussing homework and its attributes which will help both (students/teachers) to understand homework and its value for academic years.
What is the purpose of homework?
The most known purpose of giving homework is to keep students engaged and practicing a material that they already learned in the classroom. This way they can polish their skills as well without getting much stress in the classroom and their learning power is enhanced for future work.
Making assignments is one of the oldest ways of keeping students busy and the majority of schools are in practicing this strategy.
Effects of homework
Everything has different effects on society including homework; some might be positive and a few could be negative. Let’ see how?
- Positive
It simply increases students’ understanding and retention levels in the classroom.
It also keeps students busy and improves their study skills of a student – even keeps students attentive in school. It teaches that doing homework is a part of learning and practicing after school no matter if you’re at home or somewhere else.
Responsibility and encouragement are a few nonacademic benefits of homework. Most of the students take their parents’ help with the homework which is an indirect way of a parent’s involving in school work so that they can appreciate their kid for future success.
- Negative
When it comes to negative effects then some parents are not in favor of homework. While a few educators worry that students might get bored of doing homework after school. It can lose their energy level and deny them to not do other activities as well.
Someway parents’ involvement in homework can interrupt their life and not every parent is in the capability of helping their kid’s homework. Likewise; they can confuse their children with a different way of doing homework at home than in the classroom.
Moreover doing homework at home can lead to learning the miserable technique of cheating or copying assignments also. Apparently, homework can make students helpless at home and their dependability might affect also them.
Everyone can not afford a tutor that’s why giving homework to students can indirectly hit a parent’s pocket; especially when it comes to the middle-class level of life.
It is good to give homework in maths?
Everything is absolutely good if we do it with the right amount and time; the majority of things are not good at all in excess. Similarly, you can give some math homework to your children but make sure it should be relevant to the classroom.
Often math teachers give extra homework to students in order to keep their interest more in math but later they complain the whole class asks each other who can do my algebra homework.
Make sure math is a complicated subject and everyone cannot do it on their own so you have to try new techniques to make them understand.
