Design & Construction
The huawei matebook d 15 may appear inexpensive from the outside, but it’s a different story once you have a feel for it. When bending or pressing down on the laptop, there is no flexing or creaking. The metal body features a smooth finish with some roughness to aid gripping. Mystic Silver & Space Grey are the two colors available.
Display & Multimedia
The Huawei MateBook D 15 features a 15.6-inch IPS FullView display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080p and an 87 percent screen-to-body ratio. The colors were vivid, and there was a good deal of contrast. Because it uses an IPS display, viewing angles were excellent, albeit you’d want to keep it indoors because it only has a maximum brightness of 250 nits. Both the top and side bezels are 7mm thick, with the top bezel being 6mm thick.
Performance & Benchmarks
The Huawei MateBook D 15 comes with an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U processor and Vega 8 graphics, as well as up to 8GB of RAM. It has a 256GB PCIe SSD and a 1TB HDD for storage. By default, the system allots 1.1GB of RAM to the Vega 8 integrated graphics, leaving just 6.9GB of RAM available to the user. All tests were conducted in a 28° C room with no air conditioning, with the laptop hooked into the socket. The Huawei MateBook D was also in its original state, with no OS tweaks to increase performance.
Software & Operating System
The Huawei MateBook D 15 comes with Windows 10 Home pre-installed. The SSD only has 192GB of the 222GB available for use, so customers can make the most of the 1TB HDD. Bubble With 3 Saga, Candy Domino Friends, a trial edition of Microsoft Office, Spotify, and some other bloatware were all present and correct with Windows 10.
Battery Life
The Huawei MateBook D 15 lasted 6 hours and 43 minutes on our normal video loop test, which includes a 1080p video looped with 50% brightness, 50% volume, headphones inserted in, and airplane mode. The Huawei MateBook D 15’s battery life isn’t great, but it’s decent enough to keep users unplugged for the majority of the day. We’re also pleased to find that the Huawei MateBook D comes with a 65W USB-C charger that works with all Huawei phones and tablets.
