Mangaowl is an app with a built-in manga reader function that recently celebrated its first birthday. In the past year, it has gained popularity and as such, has not only been downloaded over a million times but it’s also participated in various events with other apps. If you’re wondering how to read manga on Mangaowl, here’s what you need to know!
First off, you’ll need to download the app from either iTunes for Android or Google Play for your device. Next up is creating an account on their site if you haven’t already done so before. Similar to that of other manga reading apps, you have the option of signing up for a free account or pay for one. The paid account will offer various advantages over the free one such as more themes and being able to save your progress in a chapter. However, if you’re really not interested in paying for an account, your best bet is to go with the free alternative.
Like other apps, Mangaowl will automatically detect where you are and serve you with a list of manga that is currently trending in Japan. If you wish to see other manga, you can head on to the search icon and enter in the name of the series that you’re looking for.
There’s also a “Trending” tab which lists the series that are currently popular in Japan. Mangaowl will automatically serve up new chapters from each series on this list so you don’t have to worry about missing out on anything!
Once you’ve found a manga that piques your interest, simply tap on it and it’ll take you to their library where each chapter is presented in a list. Each chapter has its own synopsis as well as release dates for both Japan and other countries such as America or Korea. It is here that you’ll be able to read the chapter that you’ve selected as well as other chapters from a series.
If you notice while reading a chapter that you want to read more or return to later, there’s also an icon on the top right of each chapter called “Continue Reading”. This will take you to their library where it will allow you to either save your progress in the chapter or skip ahead.
As well as this, there’s a “Best” tab where users are able to rate and review each manga before voting for their favourite! By clicking on the arrows at the bottom of each chapter, users are able to make their selection for which chapter is their best.
