When you hear the name Redmi, you think of a low-cost phone. Although the price of the phone is low, it has specifications similar to mid-range phones. Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime has a premium metal body with dimensions 141.3 (H) x 69.6 (W) x 8.9 (T) mm. Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime is slightly on the heavy scale and measure 156 grams. It is available in three colour: gray, gold and silver.
Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime has a screen size of 5 inches which is neither too big nor small. Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime comes with a Full High Definition (FHD) display of resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. We won’t blame it for not having 2K display as the price of the phone is less. Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime has a great pixel density of 441 ppi. The images will be clearer and brighter on this phone. Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime uses IPS LCD display type and has a screen to body ratio of 69.92 %.
Talking about the physical appearance, there is a 5 inch display on the front side with three capacitive keys below it. These keys are not backlit. There is no physical home button in this device. Above the display lies the 5 MP front camera and LED notification light. There is no front LED flash in this device. The controls are the usual Xiaomi controls, with Power button and volume button on the right side of the device. On the left side, lies the hybrid SIM slot in which you can use one micro SIM and one nano SIM or SD card. Up top there is a 3.5mm jack and IR blaster. The micro USB port is located at the bottom of the device. This device doesn’t support USB TYPE C port. Flipping the phone, the back is slippery because of Satin metal back. The back is non- removable. The back of the device also houses a 13 MP back camera with dual LED flash next to it. There is also a fingerprint sensor at the back of the device below the camera.
Performance:
Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime uses a new Snapdragon chipset. Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 MSM8953 chipset rather than old 430 chipset. Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime runs on Octa core, 2 GHz, Cortex A53 processor. It derives the power from 3 GB of RAM. For graphics, it uses Adreno 506 GPU. Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime gives a great overall performance.
Software:
Unfortunately, Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime doesn’t run on the latest Android Nougat(7.0). It runs on Android Marshmallow(6.0.1.) out of the box. It also has its own MIUI on top which supports dual space and dual apps.
Camera:
Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime has a 5 MP front camera for selfies and video chat. It lacks auto focus and flash. On the back, it has 13 MP rear camera which has phase detection auto-focus. Being a low range device, it lacks Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). On the good side, it has DUAL colour LED flash. Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime gives the maximum image resolution of 4128 x 3096 Pixels. Storage:
Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime has an internal storage of 32 GB which is expandable up to 128 GB via a hybrid slot. This is one of the drawbacks of this phone as you cannot use two SIM cards and SD card all together. You have to switch between a SIM and SD card.
Battery:
Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime has a huge battery of 4100 mAH which is non-removable. The battery easily lasts for a day. Also, as per the leaked specifications it also supports fast charging. This is really a good feature to have in such a price range.
Connectivity:
Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime is a dual SIM device which also supports VOLTE. Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime uses hybrid SIM slot and hence the first SIM is a micro SIM and second SIM is a nano SIM. Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime supports Indian 4G bands in both the slots. Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime lacks NFC and USB TYPE C port.
